Starting Out In Business Aviation
Appropriate Questions To Ask

The plight of the new corporate aviation flight attendant can be a daunting journey. It takes education, commitment, tenacity, being in the right place at the right time, and a good old break. Remember in life, you don't get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate. Unlike commercial aviation where you go for an interview, get hired, have your training given to you, and then start out on the line, this is a totally different animal in every way possible. It is your own personal investment both experientially and monetarily! It is all about you, corporate specific education and what you personally bring to this venue. Simply stated, it is not a HOMOGENIZED process and venue.

Here are some training tips / questions that you should ask when looking for your "corporate specific” emergency training program/vendor:

1. How long have you been in the training business?

2. How many people have you trained and what is the ratio of people that are working both full time and contract?

3. Do you have any documented testimonials from previously trained students?

4. Is your actual training program / syllabus Part 135 approved by the FAA?

5. Is your training program Part 142 approved by the FAA?

6. Is your program FAA certified / approved for the Gulfstream 550 FAA regulations?

7. Do you use a training simulator or an actual aircraft?

8. If it is a simulator, is it one with Gulfstream, Falcon and Challenger forward doors and over wing exits for training and exercise purposes? Is it corporate aircraft specific?

9. What will I leave your program with that I can show to possible employers?

10. If they tell you that they will put you on a list (if they say this) and possibly get you a position flying either full time or contract, ask them how they can offer this to someone sight unseen? This may be a lore for your training business.

As a new corporate flight attendant you are the author of your success in business aviation. Passion, commitment, education, organization, and excellence creates opportunity and success!
